The Cement Mixing Process
At Exclusive Walls, the foundation of our quality doesn’t begin on site — it starts in the factory, with a process honed by precision, consistency, and craftsmanship. Our cement mixing process is a core component of what sets us apart in the precast walling industry in South Africa.
Where It Begins
We begin with a carefully measured blend of 13mm stone and crusher sand, combined with 42.5R high-strength cement from our trusted supplier, Afrisam. This grade of cement allows us to strip the moulds daily, helping us maintain a fast yet efficient production schedule without compromising the strength or finish of the concrete.
In The Mix: Cement, stone & sand
The cement, stone, and sand mixture is combined with just enough water to make the mix workable. This balance is crucial. Adding too much water can weaken the concrete, making it prone to cracking and delaying the stripping process. Our approach ensures that the concrete retains its strength while remaining practical for casting.
The Mould & Casting Process
Each mould is cleaned and oiled before casting. This process ensures a smooth surface finish and easy removal the following day. Once prepared, the concrete is poured into the moulds and reinforced with 4mm high-tensile steel. The tensile steel adds internal strength to every slab. For our concrete pillars, we use 4mm to 5mm high-tensile reinforcement, depending on the length and structural requirement.
After the casting process, the moulds are covered with plastic to begin the curing process in a controlled environment. The next day, the plastic is removed, and the concrete is stripped from the moulds. These newly formed slabs then enter a five-day curing period, which allows the material to reach the strength and durability standards we guarantee.
